According to rumors, Sunderland’s January attempts to recruit rumored target Glen Kamara are expected to encounter fierce opposition.
Over the holiday season, the Stade Rennais midfielder was rumored as a potential loan option for the Black Cats. According to Jeunes Footeux, Regis Le Bris’ team is already keeping tabs on the former Leeds United and Rangers player in anticipation of a more formal offer in the upcoming weeks. However, Sunderland might not have everything they want if they pursue Kamara. In addition to Burnley and Middlesbrough, Southampton and Ipswich Town are among the Premier League and Championship teams interested in signing the 29-year-old, according to a TBR Football report.
Given that Kamara only joined Stade Rennais from Leeds in the summer, it is implied that her future in France is uncertain. However, Julien Stephan has since been replaced in the dugout by Jorge Sampaoli, and the Finland international has since suffered a decline in his first team opportunities. Sampaoli left Kamara on the bench for a recent 1-0 defeat against Nantes, and does not seem to view him as a regular starter, with the player only registering a 13-minute cameo during a 2-0 win over Angers last time out. It is within this context that speculation over Kamara’s future has started to simmer.
